Parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) helps parents handle difficult behavior while building a closer relationship with their child.
I coach you in real time, helping you find a balance between warmth and discipline.

Who Is PCIT For?
PCIT is for children ages 1–10 and their parents or caregivers when everyday interactions have become a struggle. I use age-specific adaptations for toddlers and older children.
You may be dealing with:
-
Frequent tantrums or frustration that quickly escalates
-
Defiance, repeated arguing, or difficulty following directions
-
Hitting, biting, or throwing things
-
Parent-child conflict or disagreements about discipline
Children do not need a diagnosis to benefit. PCIT may also be appropriate for behavior concerns in children diagnosed with ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, or autism spectrum disorder. We can discuss whether it fits your child’s age and needs.
How PCIT works
You and your child participate together. As you interact, I coach you through an earpiece so you can try the skills with my guidance right away.

First, we build connection.
During child-directed play, you learn how to give attention to behaviors you want to see more often and strengthen your relationship.

Then, we work on directions and discipline.
You learn how to give clear instructions, set limits, and follow through consistently. I coach you as you practice with your child.

What to Expect
We begin by discussing your concerns and observing how you and your child interact. Sessions include teaching and live coaching, with brief daily practice between appointments. Treatment progresses as you learn the skills and your child’s behavior improves; the number of sessions varies.
We work toward fewer tantrums and power struggles, better cooperation, and more confidence in how you respond. We also discuss how to use the skills during routines such as getting dressed, leaving the house, and bedtime.
How Does Virtual PCIT Work?
During virtual sessions, you and your child interact at home while I observe online. I turn off my camera, and you wear an earpiece so only you hear my coaching. This lets us work together in the setting where many of the difficulties happen.
